VT MÄK ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR HLA EVOLVED

Upcoming Releases of VR-Link & MÄK RTI Will Offer Full Support for New High Level Architecture (HLA) Standard

London, May, 18, 2010 – VT MÄK, (MÄK), a company of VT Systems Inc. (VT Systems), today announced support for the HLA Evolved simulation networking standard in the upcoming releases of the company’s distributed simulation tools VR-Link and the MÄK RTI. HLA Evolved is the latest version of the HLA Standard (IEEE-1516.2010).

The new version of HLA Evolved offers a number of improvements; the most significant is the incorporation of the SISO Dynamic Link Compatible API that allows users to switch RTI’s (Run-Time Infrastructure) without making any changes to their simulations (also known as a federates). Other important features include Modular Federation Object Models (FOM), Update Rate Reduction, improvements to Reliability and Connectivity, and other changes that make using HLA easier.

MÄK RTI 4.0 will include libraries for all versions of the HLA standard, including HLA 1.3, HLA 1516 and HLA Evolved.  The product will also maintain wire compatibility among all versions of the HLA standard, meaning users can connect all federates into the same exercise with no special adapters or bridges. Support for HLA Evolved in other MÄK products will follow shortly with supported versions of the MÄK Data Logger and VR-Exchange released later this year.

Customers who are currently subscribers of maintenance support will be entitled to HLA Evolved updates at no additional cost.

"Some HLA Evolved features are so valuable that we wanted to provide a way for customers to take advantage of them quickly and easily, without porting all their legacy federates to the HLA Evolved API. For example, HLA Evolved's Modular FOMS can make large scale federation development cheaper. That is why since version 3.2, the MÄK RTI has allowed customers to use the Modular FOM as well as other HLA Evolved features, like Update Rate Reduction, with only a few simple changes of their configuration files.  This, combined with wire compatibility, makes it easy for customers to combine legacy federates and new HLA Evolved federates in a single federation while taking advantage of most of the new features offered by HLA Evolved."

“We know that our customers rely on us, not only to keep up with evolving standards, but to drive their evolution.  We were one of the leading contributors to the HLA standards development effort at SISO, and we are proud to now support HLA Evolved in our products.”
